Two Maoist couples surrender

Khammam district special guerrilla squad commander of CPI (Maoist) Kursam Rambabu alias Arun and member of the same squad, Madhavi Jogi alias Uma,  surrendered before Khammam SP AV Ranganath on Wednesday.

According to the SP, surrendered Maoist Rambabu, who belongs to Bollaram village of Wajedu mandal in Khammam district, joined the Maoist party in 2004.

He was promoted as deputy commander of the local guerrilla squad (LGS) and shifted to the North Telangana platoon after the Kanchala encounter.

The woman Maoist, Madhavi Jogi, is from Yerrampadu village of Charla mandal. She joined the Maoist party in 2010 as a member of the Venkatapuram area squad after she lost her parents at an early age. She became a member of the North Telangana special zonal committee platoon in 2012.

Jogi, who is now a member of the Khammam district special guerrilla squad, was allegedly involved in five offences. The reasons behind the surrender is said to be the differences between senior leader Sukhdev and the duo and their plans to get married.

Meanwhile,  another Maoist couple surrendered before Markapuram OSD Ch Samany John Rao on Wednesday.

The surrendered Naxals are Bhir Singh alias Mahesh and Nagireddy Lakshmi Devi, who were at Mandla village in Madhya Pradesh.Bhir Singh alias Mahesh came to Dornala area in 1997 in search of work.
