Panchayat raj minister K Jana Reddy is confident that the 2014 Assembly elections will be held in two states _ Telangana and Andhra.

“After meeting Sonia Gandhi, I got confidence that Telangana state will be formed before 2014 elections,” he said during an informal chat with reporters here on Thursday.

Reddy, who called on AICC president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Tuesday, said he had explained the political situation in the state and the Telangana issue to her and said he had faith in the Congress high command that a Telangana state would be carved out before the 2014 Assembly elections.

Asked why he had demanded that a Telanganite become chief minister, he said  it was not necessary now. “Once Telangana is formed, we will get everything automatically.”

On the removal of DL Ravindra Reddy from the cabinet, Jana Reddy said that when there was a difference of opinion, the state Congress leaders would sit together and sort them out. Sometimes, the Congress high command would intervene and sort out the problem.
