Sonia brewing Telangana, Kiran can't sack CR, hints Chiru

Express News Service

On a day when Deputy Chief Minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha had a series of meetings with the Congress top brass, Union Minister of State for Tourism K Chiranjeevi said the party high command had intensified efforts to untangle the Telangana knot.

Speaking to a TV channel in New Delhi on Thursday night, Chiranjeevi exuded confidence that his party leadership would resolve the issue much before the general elections in 2014.

The Union Minister, who had a one-on-one with his party president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday, revealed that the AICC leadership was racking its brains to find a solution to the issue of state bifurcation. According to him, from the AICC pointsman to the State Ghulam Nabi Azad to every other AICC functionary, who is looking after state party affairs, has been involved in the exercise of finding a solution to the Telangana issue. His comments are more or less similar to Azad’s recent statement that the T tangle will be solved in a month. Divulging that he had conveyed his opinions on various issues relating to the state party affairs to Sonia Gandhi, Chiranjeevi said he could not disclose those details as they were ‘confidential.’

On the possibility of his close aide and Endowments Minister C Ramachandraiah meeting the same fate as DL Ravindra Reddy for repeatedly criticising Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chiranjeevi said there was absolutely no threat to Ramachandraiah’s continuance in the State Cabinet. “Ramachandraiah will continue in the State Cabinet,” he asserted, as if his lobbying on the same issue has paid off.
