Telangana ministers plan yatra to gain people's trust

Express News Service

With their chances of winning the ensuing general election seeming bleak with each passing day, ministers from the Telangana region have started racking their brains on how to regain the confidence of the people of their region in the run-up to the polls next year.

The ministers are planning to undertake “Telangana Yatra” after the completion of the ongoing second spell of the budget session of the Assembly, which is likely to end on June 21, to reiterate that the Congress would deliver Telangana state before 2014 polls in order to get back the confidence of the people of their region.

Five ministers met at the residence of deputy chief minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha here on Monday night. K Jana Reddy, D Sridhar Babu and G Prasad Kumar were among those who took part in the meeting which discussed the Telangana issue against the backdrop of proposed Chalo Assembly rally by the TJAC on June 14.

According to sources, the ministers resolved to visit all the Assembly constituencies in the region to once again tell the people that the Congress would deliver T-state before 2014 polls. They are likely to announce during their yatra that they would not contest the 2014 elections if the Centre did not make an announcement on Telangana state before the polls.
