Express News Service

CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana, who is handling high-profile cases like Jagan assets case, handed over charge to his deputy DIG H Venkatesh here on Tuesday.  CBI joint director, Chennai, S Arunachalam, was supposed to hold additional charge as CBI joint director, Hyderabad, until a new man is appointed. Since he is on leave, DIG Venkatesh has taken the charge. Venkatesh is also the investigating officer in the ongoing high-profile cases in the state.

Lakshminarayana, who was transferred on June 7, will go back to his parent Maharashtra cadre.

Addressing a press conference here after handing over charge to Venkatesh, Lakshminarayana clarified that he has never leaked information about the cases.

“Whatever information appeared in media, it was collected by them. I spoke to a few media persons only to gather information, but I have never shared any information about on-going investigation with anyone,” he said. “I was never under pressure while investigating cases,” he added.

On the progress of high-profile cases, he said the CBI has filed chargesheets in cases where investigation has been completed and if any further investigation is needed the present team led by Venkatesh will look into it, he said.

“It was a great experience working in Andhra Pradesh. I am happy that I was able to serve in my native state for seven long years. Given an opportunity, I would like to work in the state again,” he said.
