Out of the 355 Model Schools (Adarsh schools) that have been sanctioned by the Central government for the state, the construction of as many as 313 schools is nearing completion. The rest are at various stages of construction, secondary education minister K Parthasarathy has said.
Replying to a question during the Question Hour in the assembly on Friday, the minister said that the model schools were being constructed with Central assistance of 75 per cent and 25 per cent of the charges being provided by the state government. Stating that the Centre has identified 737 educationally backward mandals in the state, he said that Model Schools in as many as 355 of these mandals were sanctioned in the first phase.
The total outlay of Phase I of is Rs 1,072 crore, which includes the state’s contribution of Rs 268 crore, he said.
