'Telangana protest a victory'

Express News Service

Despite the police successfully thwarting the ‘Chalo Assembly’ rally of the Telangana Joint Action Committee and supported by the Telanagana Rashtra Samithi, TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram termed the protest a moral victory for Telangana activists.

“In spite of the police turning Hyderabad into a fortress, we have managed to reach the city, voicing the demand for Telangana,” he said.

At Osmania University, students made a vain attempt to break the police cordon and head to the Assembly. Earlier, the Assembly was adjourned around 10.40 am but the Chief Minister had to take a roundabout way to go to the Secretariat as the Telangana legislators blocked the exit.

Two of them climbed atop the Assembly and created some drama for a while but were cajoled to come down by the security personnel.
