Gas leak causes fire in ONGC pipeline

Tension prevailed when a fire broke out in the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) pipeline at Patarlagadda village in Karapa mandal of East Godavari district. However, there was no loss of property.

According to information, the pipeline developed a leakage and fire broke out after the gas came in contact with a lit cigarette butt. Being informed about the incident, ONGC protection force rushed to the spot and stopped the valve of the pipeline thereby controlling the flames. ONGC Rajahmundry Asset group general manager P Krishna Rao said the situation is under control and efforts are on to prevent such mishaps in future.
