Acknowledging Telangana sentiment, TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced that if his party comes to power, the kin of those who have laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana will be provided government jobs and all the cases registered during the Telangana agitation will be lifted.
Addressing the two-day Mahanadu at Telugu Vijayam at Gandipet on city outskirts, Naidu said he would sign the file pertaining to this as soon as his party comes to power.
Already his party has been helping the families of the youths who have ended their lives for the cause of Telangana, he said.
He said TDP has made its stand on Telangana clear in 2008 itself and submitted a letter favouring separate state to the then finance minister Pranab Mukerjee. The party stands by it even today, he said.
Opponents were playing up the Telangana issue intentionally to mortify the TDP in spite of the pro-Telangana stand displayed by the party, he said. Telangana is an important issue and there is a need to discuss it at the Mahanadu, he observed.
Accusing TRS of playing with the sentiments of the people, the TDP chief said TRS claims that it is championing the cause of Telangana, but in reality exploiting the sentiment of the people for its political gain.
It is the Congress which is creating hurdles in the way of separate state and instead of targeting that party, the TRS is attacking TDP, he said. He said getting into a poll pact with TRS during the 2009 election was a big mistake for which the TDP has to pay a heavy price by loosing seats.
TRS leaders are saying that the Telangana region is getting more revenue than the other regions of the state, but are forgetting that the credit for this goes to the TDP, which has taken up developmental works during its regime. The Babili dam issue was first raised by the TDP and he and his party leaders were arrested by Maharashtra police, he said.
Return to power
The TDP chief expressed confidence that his party will come to power in the state in the coming elections and play a vital role in establishing the third front government at the Centre.
To save the state from the clutches of the corrupt Congress, people are determined to bring back TDP to power. The success of the 2,800-km Vastunna Meekosam padayatra has revitalised the party, he said. The TDP will provided corruption-free administration, he added.
Accusing the chief minister of protecting tainted ministers, Naidu said Kiran Kumar Reddy was forced to accept the resignation of Sabitha Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao only due to TDP’s pressure. The TDP will not rest until the tainted ministers are sent to jail, he said.
The YSR government turned Jalayagayam into a ‘dhanayagayam’ and looted the state to the tune of more than Rs 1 lakh crore and chief minister Kiran Reddy is also following in the foot steps of YSR, Naidu alleged.
Terming YSRC as a ‘jail party’, Naidu said its foundation is in corruption. The late YSR and BJP leader Gali Janardhan Reddy tried to finish TDP politically, but it did not happened and in the process they got destroyed. The same thing will happen with TRS and YSRC too, he said.
Many sops
Chandrababu Naidu said that if his party comes to power, he would waive all the farm loans. All the belt shops in the state will be removed. For the welfare of tribals, special gram panchayats will be set up in tandas with a population of 500. Similarly, Dalit Christians will be treated as Dalits. The TDP has decided to reserve 100 seats for BCs and 15 for Muslims in the coming elections, Naidu said. He said his will strive for 33 percent reservation for women in the Assembly and the Lok Sabha. He said that a Rs 5000-crore Kapu community development plan and Rs 500-crore Brahmin welfare plan would be launched. Widows and physically challenged persons will be given monthly pension of Rs 1,000, he said.
