Inferno leaves pharma unit in ashes

A pharmaceutical company here suffered extensive damage in a fire that broke out after a series of chemical explosions at 4.30 pm on Thursday. Fire-fighters had been making hectic efforts to put out the blaze for over five hours when the reports last came in. Unconfirmed reports say two persons are feared trapped inside the unit. Two injured were rushed to hospital. Three of the five buildings in the unit were gutted.

The heavy smoke from the unit caused panic among the residents in nearby areas.
