Six new polytechnics this year

The state government has  accorded administrative sanction for establishment of six new government polytechnic colleges in the state. The colleges will begin functioning from the 2013-14 academic year.

Of the six, two will be for women and they will be located at Pebbair in Mahbubnagar district and at Kalikiri in Chittoor district.

The other four colleges will come up at Pendurthy in Visakhapatnam, Pithapuram in East Godavari, Medchal in Rangareddy and Cheepurupalli in Vizianagarm district. The Pebbair and Kalkiri collegs will have have an intake of 120 students each while the intake will be 240 in the Pendurthy polytechnic, 120 each in Pithapuram and Cheepurupalli, and  180 in the Medchal college. The higher education department said that the colleges would be allowed to be opened subject to the technical education department obtaining approval from the AICTE,  New Delhi.
