Andhra Pradesh Intermediate Board Certificate for Telangana Student!

Express News Service

HYDERABAD: Sai Krishna, an Intermediate student at AP Residential Junior College at Nagarjunasagar, hails from Mahbubnagar district of Telangana state. But he is going to get his certificate from the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education as the location of his colleges is in Macherla mandal in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. This post-bifurcation fallout, he fears, will land him in trouble about his nativity to appear for qualifying examinations after completion of his course.

“I have no idea how my nativity will be decided? Even our faculty don’t know about it,” said Sai Krishna. This is not the problems of Sai Krishna alone. A similar issue is going to be faced by thousands of students from Telangana who are studying in AP and AP students who are studying in Telangana. Though both the states have decided to conduct separate examinations for their students, the consequences of the move seem to have been forgotten by both the states..

Now the students have to write examinations according to the schedule given by respective states and they will be given certificate by the Intermediate Board of the state where they are studying. So far, the Intermediate Boards and the education departments of both the States haven’t made any statements in this regard. Though the officials of Intermediate Board have been saying, it will be decided as per the guidelines of Article 371 D, they failed to give clarity.

An official of the board said, “The students who have studied in the respective state for at least seven years before the qualifying examination will be considered locals for admissions.” Which means, the students who appear for EAMCET must have studied in the state from Class VI to Intermediate.

According to the definition of nativity given by the officials, those who have studied up to Class X in Telangana but studied Intermediate in AP will not be eligible to take admissions in medical and engineering courses under local category in Telangana. In Andhra Pradesh, the same equation is applicable for the students who are currently studying Intermediate in Telangana. If this remains ignored, it is most likely to create another row between two states during the EAMCET counselling in the next academic year.
