VIJAYAWADA: Former minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and, his brother and former legislator Anam Vivekananda Reddy will formally join the Telugu Desam Party on Sunday in the presence of party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu. Though they have made their intention to join the ruling party quite some time ago, they have decided to make their formal entry with a bang.

As part of it, the Anam brothers are organising a public meeting at A1 Convention Hall in the city where they are mobilising huge crowd from Nellore district by two special trains and 1,000 vehicles.

Addressing newsmen in this connection here Saturday, Ramnarayana Reddy described the TDP in Nellore district as an ‘opposition party’ since it has only three MLAs (Kovuru, Udayagiri and Venkatagiri) as against seven legislators of YSR Congress. “Our intention is to cut YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his party down to size. I have no problem in working shoulder-to-shoulder with the TDP workers since I was originally from Telugu Desam stock.”

Asserting that his priority is to wean away voters from the YSRC fold and make TDP stronger in the district, he said that he had left the Congress, as the high command did not show any remorse even after the party had been routed in Andhra in the last general elections. “Sonia Gandhi did not even say ‘sorry’ for this so far,” he said.

He took light of APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy that by the time the next general elections are around, all those who have left the Congress would come back running. “Raghuveera Reddy has no business to make such statements since he is originally from ABVP. It would be a surprise if he does not go back to ABVP,” Ramnarayana Reddy said.
