The first phase of the Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS) envisaged to take Godavari river water to Yeleru reservoir through the Polavaram left canal, has been completed.

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: The first phase of the Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS) envisaged to take Godavari river water to Yeleru reservoir through the Polavaram left canal, has been completed.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the scheme on August 15. At first, two pump sets will be operated for lifting Godavari water for irrigation and drinking purposes.

District Collector Kartikeya Mishra said elaborate arrangements were made for the Chief Minister’s programme. The Chief Minister will unveil a pylon to mark the inauguration of the lift irrigation scheme.

He will also visit  Nagampalli in Seethanagaram mandal where the Godavari water flows into Polavaram left canal. Megha Engineering and Infrastructures  Ltd (MEIL) is making all necessary arrangements for the inauguration of the lift irrigation scheme on a war-footing.
