VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as seven persons, who were injured in the accident following derailment of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express train near Kuneru station in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday night, are currently undergoing treatment at the casualty ward in KGH. Among them, two are said to be in critical condition, while the health condition of the rest are in stable.
The injured were airlifted by the Naval helicopters to Visakhapatnam from the accident spot after their condition turned critical. "Specialist doctors have taken up the immediate treatment for two patients - Vasant Kumar Mohanty with ribs fracture and Geetanjali Bonjo with head injury - who are in a critical condition," said KSLG Sastry, a duty doctor at KGH.
Ten beds were allotted along with a team of sanitation staff, nursing, radiology and orthopaedic staff to take care of the injured. Without any delay, the doctors at KGH took X-ray and conducted other tests on the injured to ascertain the grievous injuries of the patients. The injured are identified as SV Tagore of Odisha, Akhil Setty of Kalahandi, R Srinivas Rao of Vizag, DP Panda of Malakanagiri.
