Andhra Pradesh: Six die as lorry collides with auto in East Godavari district

According to police, 14 people were going to Vadapalli from Allavaram to worship Lord Venkateswara, when a speeding lorry going towards Amalapuram collided head on with their autorickshaw.

KAKINADA: Six people died and seven others suffered injuries in a road mishap at Modekuru village of Kothapeta mandal in East Godavari district on Saturday morning.

According to police, 14 people were going to Vadapalli in an autorickshaw from Allavaram to worship Lord Venkateswara, when a speeding lorry going towards Amalapuram collided head on with the auto rickshaw.

Five people died on the spot and one died while undergoing treatment at KIMS hospital. The condition of other six injured is said to be serious.

The deceased were identified as Ch Nagamani (46), P Bhavani (25), P Parvathi (48), P Anantha Lakshmi (40),  Pulime Ananta Lakshmi (45) and P Durga. Police registered a case and took up investigation.
