VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday enhanced honorarium of home guards to Rs 600 per day from the existing Rs 400. As many as 15,616 home guards across 13 districts of the State will get benefited.

While 12,368 are working with police department, 3,248 are working with Central and State institutes under deputation. When home guards in large numbers led by Police Officers Association president Srinivas and Home Guards Association president S Govind met the Chief Minister and explained about their woes, Naidu also announced some more financial and medical facilities to them.

The TDP government initially enhanced the daily allowance of home guards to `400 from `300 and now once again it has increased it to `600 per day, the officials said.

Maternity leave for women home guards is enhanced to 3 months from the existing 15 days. Home guards can avail free medical facility up to `2.5 lakh per year under NTR Vaidya Seva; `5 lakh ex gratia will be given in case of the death of home guards.
