Class 10 pass a must eligibility for financial aid under YSR Kalyanamastu

VIJAYAWADA: The minimum educational qualification for being eligible for financial aid under the YSR Kalyanamastu and Shaadi Tohfa is 10th class pass for both bride and bridegroom. Earlier, it was mentioned that the bride and bridegroom should have completed Class X. (This condition is relaxed for marriages conducted up to June 30, 2024.)

The government on Saturday issued orders to extend one-time financial assistance to the brides of SC/ST/BC/minorities other than Muslims/differently abled/building and other construction workers registered with the welfare board categories under the Kalyanamastu and Shaadi Tohfa for Muslim minorities.

The objective of the scheme is not only to help the poor families perform their social obligation of getting their girls married by providing financial aid, but also to motivate girls to reach desired educational level, there by promoting girl child education.
