ANANTAPUR: A shocking double murder rocked Tarimela village in Singanamala Assembly constituency on Monday when an Anganwadi teacher and her son were killed by close relatives following a land dispute.

The deceased were identified as Dandora Yallamma (43) and her son Dandora Ambedkar alias Chinna (22). According to police, the murders stemmed from long-standing disputes between two branches of the same family over agricultural land.

Police said Yallamma’s husband, Dandora Nallappa, had two wives, Lakshmidevi and Yallamma. Lakshmidevi has two sons, Omkar and Jagajjeevan, while Yallamma had one son, Ambedkar.

After Nallappa’s death, Lakshmidevi and her sons moved to Bengaluru, while Yallamma remained in Tarimela, working as an Anganwadi teacher.

Five months ago, Lakshmidevi and her sons returned to the village, reigniting disputes. On Monday, Omkar and Jagajjeevan allegedly confronted Yallamma and Ambedkar, leading to a altercation.

Ambedkar was attacked with sharp weapons and killed, while Yallamma was later found dead in a neighbouring house. Police registered a case and formed special teams to trace the accused.
