MYSORE: The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) facility, the first such project in the country, established in partnership with the private sector by the state government for providing job opportunities to rural populace was launched at Baburanya Koppal, near Srirangapatana in Mandya on Friday.

Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology Katta Subramanya Naidu inaugurated the BPO facility, aimed at preventing exodus of rural population to urban centres. The Minister said that the government had plans to generate about 1 lakh jobs for the rural population through such BPO facilities in the next five years to prevent people from migrating to cities.The programme is intended to get the educated men and women in the villages and semiurban areas employed.
