MYSORE: Ironically the first case in the district after the enforcement of code of conduct by the Election Commission for the ensuing TP and ZP polls was the seizure of the official car belonging to Forest Minister C H Vijayashankar.

Mysore taluk returning officer Harsha Gupta seized the car when it came to his notice that the forest minister is using it for a BJP meet held in the city on Thursday.

Gupta instructed the Mysore taluk returning officer Priyanka (IAS probationer) and additional tahsildar Manjunatha Swamy to seize the minister’s car. During this process, the minister was attending a meeting.

KR police have booked a case for violation of code of conduct and seized the car.

The code of conduct has been in force from December 6 midnight and will be active till January 5.

Meanwhile Harsha Gupta strictly instructed the returning officer to take stringent action against the act of violation of code of conduct.

Chairing a meeting of taluklevel returning officers at his office on Thursday, he called upon the authorities to strictly implement the guidelines issued by the Election Commission.
