BANGALORE: The state government has decided to restrict the number of recipients of Rajyotsava award to 50 this year.

The government is also mulling to amend the eligibility criteria for the award so that only deserving persons could get this prestigious award. Kannada and Culture Minister Govind Karjol said the government would come up with a final decision within a week after holding consultations with the experts and writers.

Our intention is to ensure that the people who have rendered 25 years of service to the society should get the award, the minister said.
