MYSORE: Muthulakshmi, widow of Veerappan, and six others were acquitted in the Palar land mine blast case in which 22 policemen from Tamil Nadu were killed.

After hearing the case, Chamrajnagar District and Sessions Judge AC Vidyadhara acquitted all the seven. Muthulakshmi has been languishing in Bangalore jail since her arrest in 2008 from Mettur and another accused Papachi is in Mysore jail.

The other acquitted are Tavariyappan, Bonda Basava and Earanna who are in Chamrajnagar jail, Kolathur Mani and Shivasubrayamna are on bail.

While the others were released, Muthulakshmi and Papachi were taken to jail since they are yet to come out of another case booked in connection with the killing of six policemen in MM Hills police station limits.

Muthulakshmi told reporters that she has great belief in the almighty and law courts. The future is bright and there is hope that justice will be provided to me and other victims, she added.

Public Prosecutor Udeudeda Gaddi and advocate VB Nayak appeared for Muthulakshmi and others.
