It seems that Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar is opting for a defensive mode. He declined to react to important issues pertaining to his party as well as his government.

Before receiving a civic felicitation accorded by the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, he reviewed the drought situation in the district.

Later, while addressing media persons, Shettar refused to respond to major issues and only replied with a mere ‘no comments’.

When reporters queried him on the reshuffle of portfolios and on nominations to boards and corporations, which has been the bone of contention among party leaders, the CM chose not to react. However, he was quick to add that it was his discretion as the Chief Minister and he would be taking a decision in this regard soon.

On a query whether he would sack G Somashekhar Reddy as the chief of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), who is an main accused in the Cash-for-Bail scam, Shettar resorted to again saying ‘no comments’. Even questions on the disappointment expressed by veteran BJP leader L K Advani over the party’s state of affairs and on his (Advani) views over the BJP’s prospectus in the general elections in 2014, Shettar once again reiterated a solemn ‘no comments’.
