DC Vastrad transferred

Express News Service

IAS officer P S Vastrad was shunted out as deputy commissioner of Mysore on Saturday, months after his order to convert 1,973 acres reserved for public purpose in survey number 41, 4 and 39 of Alanahalli, Kurubarahalli and Chowdally villages near the Chamundi Hills, came to light.

The transfer order came hours after BJP MLC G Madhusudan embarrassed his party government by directly targeting District Minister S A Ramdas, accusing him of benefiting from the mega land deal. Madhusudan on several occasions blamed Vastrad for the ‘illegal’ land deal and had demanded his transfer.  He received a shot in the arm after Chief Secretary S V Ranganath’s report stated the land deal was illegal.

Since it was Dasara season, the Chief Minister had sought time till the festival was over to take action. The Revenue Department on Saturday stayed the order of DC Vastrad which was passed on June 20.
