CM: Declare Karnataka naxal-hit

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday urged the Union government to declare Karnataka as a naxal-affected state and provide assistance by funding and imparting special training to state’s personnel.

Speaking at the Chief Ministers’ meet on internal security in Delhi on Wednesday, the newly- elected Chief Minister said the state has witnessed Left Wing extremism.

The government has set up 12 anti-naxal camps and ANF personnel carry out anti-Left Wing extremist operations in the Western Ghats, Siddaramaiah said.

He said the state government has been very pro-active in increasing development  activities in naxal-affected  areas. At the same time, the state government has announced a rehabilitation package for surrendered naxals, he said.
