Good rainfall in coastal Karnataka

With the arrival of the South-West monsoon on schedule, most places in Coastal Karnataka received good rainfall on Friday.  According to the Indian Meteorological Department, on Friday, Karwar received 81 mm, Panambur 20.2 mm, Honavar 32.4 mm and Mangalore 18.6 mm rainfall. However, Malnad continued to receive scanty rainfall, while South and North Interior Karnataka received moderate to no rainfall. Bangalore city recorded just around 2 mm rainfall. 

Overall, in June so far, the coastal region received 13 per cent deficit rainfall compared to normal. The maximum rainfall of 140 mm has been recorded at Baindanuru, Kundapur taluk, Udupi district on Thursday.

The Met Department forecast rain and thundershowers at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many places over the ghat areas of Interior Karnataka.
