Villagers lock up government school

Upset by the absence of teachers in the school from the past four days, villagers of Shettihalli in Gundulpet locked up the school and protested against the Education Department on Monday.

Upset by the absence of teachers in the school from the past four days, villagers of Shettihalli in Gundulpet locked up the school and protested against the Education Department on Monday.

Villagers sat in front of the school gate for four to five  hours. They alleged that the school was running without a teacher since Friday. There were two teachers at the school, which has a strength of about 43 students. Of the two teachers, one has been transferred and the other met with an accident.

Block Education Officer S Mallikarjun Swamy assured that a teacher will be appointed at the earliest.
