Express News Service

Uttar Pradesh Cm Akhilesh Yadav said he would welcome his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar joining the proposed Third Front, an alternative to the Congress and the BJP.

During his visit to Suttur Mutt on Friday, Yadav said he would like to meet Kumar after consulting his party leaders. He claimed that people want a Third Front as an alternative at the national level and predicted political polarisation after the Parliament elections.

Yadav, who was on a day-trip with his wife and children to the city recounted his four-year stay. “I am delighted to be back in Mysore, the city that has given me everything. I spent some good times in SJCE College, besides in the canteen and downs (a joint in Manasagangothri campus),” he said. Mysore, then a small city, is the best city to live and enjoy life, he added.  When asked about the memorable moments in Mysore, he listed out the first meeting with Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami and his admission to the college as the most important incidents.

Friends Recall the ‘Simple Boy’

Prof Chamaraj of the Mathematics Department, recollected how even when Yadav had to spend half-a-day in the police station because he and a few others had played holi with a girl, who was related of the then police commissioner, he did not reveal his identity.  The professor also recalled how mischief played by Yadav’s friends had cost him internal marks.  Asked on High Court pulling up the UP government for releasing Muslims booked under various charges, he said the government has taken the decision to release them as many Muslim youths were booked under false cases and wrongly linked with terror activities. He said that the government will continue to convince the court to see that innocents are freed from the jail.
