Get set for sizzling hot weather on polling day with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting temperatures to soar above normal in most places across the state on Sunday.
Dry conditions would prevail in most parts of the state and temperatures would hover around 35 to 39 degrees Celsius in southern parts of the state while it could be around 39-42 degrees Celsius in most northern districts.
Over most parts of south interior Karnataka (Bangalore, Mysore, Mandya, Ramnagar, Tumkur), the weather will remain partly cloudy and there are chances of rain and thundershowers at a few places, stated an IMD report. Friday and Saturday saw mild showers in some parts of South Karnataka that brought some respite from the blistering heat.
However, on Friday, Gulbarga, Koppal and Raichur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius while Bangalore city recorded the highest maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius in the last 10 years in the month of May.
