BANGALORE: Newly appointed Minister of State for Civil Aviation G M Siddeshwara said that his priority would be to expedite expansion works of various airports and complete pending airport projects in the state.

The Davangere MP told Express that there are many projects, including the expansion of Hubli and Mysore airports which are yet to be completed. Steps will also be taken to commence operations from Bijapur, Bellary and Shimoga and other airports. “I will meet officials concerned on Friday and discuss the matter with them,” he said.

On the pending flying permit approvals, he said that private sector will be given preference but all proposals will have to be discussed at the top-levels of the ministry. In order to speed up works in the state, he said coordination with the state Infrastructure Department was essential. He said Public-Private-Partnership models should be encouraged. Officials and the state Infrastructure Minister could not be reached for comment.
