BALLARI: “We have answers for all the questions asked by the Income Tax Department,” said Gali Somashekhar Reddy, the elder brother of mining baron and former minister Gali Janardhana Reddy. He was speaking to Express a day after the premises of the Reddy family were searched by I-T Department sleuths in connection with the lavish marriage of Janardhana Reddy’s daughter Bramhani with Rajeev Reddy.
“Our chartered accountants have prepared answers for all the 16 questions and I-T department will receive them soon,”said Somashekhar.

I-T sleuths had, after the search on Monday, handed over a questionnaire to Reddy seeking replies on or before November 25. It consisted of 16 questions on expenses incurred on the grandiose marriage.
An enclosed letter signed by Sanjiv Kumar Verma, the Assistant Director of Income Tax (Inv), Unit 2 (2), Bengaluru, also stated that Reddy was legally bound to reply to the questionnaire.

The first question sought details of various functions conducted during the pre-marriage, marriage and post-marriage period. The next one was on event management. In separate columns, it asked for details of functions held, event managers and amount paid/likely to be paid. The third question sought details on fees paid to individuals for entertainment.

The fourth asks in detail about expenditure incurred/likely to be incurred on catering, pandal making, flowers, decoration, light and sound, entertainment and music, transportation, accommodation, security, venue, photography and videography, religious functions, priests and any other incidental expenditure.
The wedding card, which caught the attention of people across the country, is also under scanner. A question seeks details of the number of cards printed variety-wise, details of the printer and amount paid/payable and mode of payment.

Another question seeks details of the jewellery, dress material, personal wear and other valuable purchases made by Reddy and his family members.

The questionnaire also seeks  details of all the bank accounts from which payments have been made. In case of cash payment, the sources, date of payment and details of the person who received such cash payments have to be furnished. Also, there was a question on payment made in kind for the wedding. The questionnaire also seeks details of the gifts/valuables distributed to the guests and family members.
Information regarding outstanding payments as on November 17 has also been sought. Details of the persons who coordinated for the functions are also to be given. Even the copies of estimates given by various service providers have been asked for by the department.
