BAGALKOT: BJP state president B Y Vijayendra accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of making false promises on providing relief to farmers who will lose their land due to the raising of Almatti dam height, and demanded clarity on the funds released so far. Addressing media persons while campaigning for the bypolls in Bagalkot city on Tuesday,

he questioned the government’s announcement of convening a special cabinet session to address farmers’ issues. “How much funds have actually been released? The government should explain the status of the Upper Krishna Project,” he said.

Vijayendra said four months back, the government had promised compensation of Rs 40 lakh per acre for irrigated land and Rs 30 lakh for dry land. He asked the government how much of this amount had been disbursed so far.
