PALAKKAD: Languages should be respected and loved but it should not become a sort of madness, said V Chenthamarakshan MLA after inaugurating the P Kunhiraman Nair Memorial meet organised by the Information and Public Relations Department at the P Memorial building in Kollengode, coinciding with the Malayalam Day celebrations on Saturday.

He said that when love for languages becomes madness it results in fissiparous tendencies as being witnessed in some states.

President of the P Memorial Kalasamskarika Kendram K Vasudevan Nair presided over the meet.V Chenthamarakshan MLA presented ponnadas and honoured poet Iyyankode Sreedharan, Kaniarkali artiste V Rajagopalan, Porottu artiste Nenmeni Krishnan and litterateur Mundur M K Krishnan.

Poet Iyyankode Sreedharan delivered the P Memorial lecture.

The book“Veritta chila chinthakal”, written by M K Krishnan, was handed over to the District Information Officer Joseph and released on the occasion.

Amongst those spoke on the occasion include president of the Kollengode Grama Panchayat A Surendran, president of the Elavancherry Grama Panchayat P V Vijayalakshmi, secretary of the Kollengode public library Sathyapal, Chairman of ‘SRI’ society Prabhakaran and Aravindakshan.
