THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cooperation Minister G Sudhakaran on Wednesday asked Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy to apologise for the violence unleashed by a group of pro-Congress secretariat employees in front of his office. “Oommen Chandy is the only leader who has supported the violence of employees,” he said.

“Now, I too am suspicious that the attack was with the connivance of Chandy,” said Sudhakaran. “The role played by Chandy is not ideal. This is not the way to lead the Congress and Opposition,” he remarked.

He claimed that several UDF leaders rang him up to make it clear that they didn’t support the violence by the employees.

Terming the activities of Chandy during the last three months as ‘anti-Constitutional’, Sudhakaran said Chandy had challenged the power of Advocate- General in the Lavalin case. “He also sent workers to physically attack the AG in Delhi,” said Sudhakaran.

“Oommen Chandy is slowly adopting the role of a goonda leader,” he said.

‘IDEOLOGICAL PROVOCATION’

Referring to the outrageous statements against secretariat employees, Sudhakaran said he tried to create only ideological provocation, not physical provocation.

“I didn’t refer to any particular association or leader. My statement was against all employees who display a callous attitude towards their work.

As a Communist, my duty is to challenge such practices.

It is the historical duty of a Communist to challenge the bourgeois stagnation in the administrative system,” he opined. Sudhakaran claimed that his statement was welcomed by the general public.

“The people of Kerala, irrespective of their political affiliation, had tasted the bitter attitude of secretariat employees,” he said.
