PALAKKAD: Palakkad district will become totally electrified within the next two months, said Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan. He was speaking at a function at the Mangalam dam centre here on Saturday, organised to declare Alathur Assembly constituency as totally electrified. The Chief Minister said that with the addition of Alathur Assembly constituency, the number of totally electrified Assembly constituencies in the State has become 13.

He said that the government planned to complete the total electrification of all villages in the next two years. The project will be completed using the local area development funds of the MPs and MLAs and with the help of the local bodies.

Achuthanandan said that the State Government would resist the proposal to privatise the energy sector and bifurcate the KSEB into various companies, under the Central Electricity Act.The switch on of declaring Alathur Assembly constituency as totally electrified was performed by Electricity Minister A K Balan.
