PALAKKAD: Kathakali maestro Kottakkal Sivaraman, 74, passed away at his residence at Karalmanna near here on Monday night.
He had been ailing for quite some time. The cremation will take place at his residence at 2.30 pm on Tuesday.
Nephew of another famous kahakali artist Vazhenkada Kunju Nair, Sivaraman began his career at the young age of 13.
He was famous for enacting woman characters and through him they became part of the mainstream in kathakali. And the most noteworthy portrayal was that of Damayanti.
