KOCHI: DGP Jacob Punnoose on Friday said the state police would take all necessary steps to help the Karnataka police, if they submit an official request for questioning the bodyguards of PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madhani. "I have not received any official communication from the Karnataka police," he told reporters here.

A controversy has of late erupted with regard to granting permission to the Karnataka police to interrogate the police personnel of Kerala state, who were the bodyguards of Madhani.

The Karnataka police, which is probing Madhani's role in the Bangalore serial bomb blasts, had claimed that Madhani had met the main accused Thadiyantavide Nazeer at Kodagu where the bomb blasts were plotted. The DGP said the state police would launch a probe to collect more details about LeT operative T Nazeer's stay at the PFI district office in Kochi.
