KOZHIKODE: GIVING a boost to the marketing of Kerala Soaps, Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem announced actor Kavya Madhavan as its brand ambassador at a function held here at Marine Grounds on Tuesday. Kavya Madhavan became the brand ambassador of the Kerala Soaps without taking any remuneration.    

In the function, Kavya Madhavan urged the people to use soaps manufactured by Kerala Soaps. “We must take pride in using goods that are made in the country than going for foreign goods. The benefit will be for our own people,” she said.

The move of the state government to re-start the company has given hope for several people, he said. “I have a lot of pride and joy in supporting the cause for the people in the state,” she said.  Kareem, in his speech, said that Kavya has set an example by becoming the brand ambassador of Kerala Soaps without taking any remuneration. “The support given by Kavya to promote Kerala Soaps will be a boost for  marketing the products. The advertisement for the different kinds of soap brands would be started shortly,” he said.

In the welcome address, Febi Varghese, managing director of Kerala State and Industrial Enterprises LTD said that the company has already made operational profit in the current fiscal. Until now the company has sold soaps, which cost about `2 crore. The significant part is that Kerala Soaps was able to do business of `7 lakh abroad, he explained.

MLA A Pradeepkumar, Mayor A K Premajam and District Collector P B Salim were present on the occasion. After the function, Kalabavan Mani and troupe held a musical night at the venue.
