THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan on Wednesday demanded a re-investigation into the Kaviyoor and Kiliroor sex scandal cases. He said it should be re-investigated by a special investigation team.

Criticising that the current investigation was not going in the right direction, he said that during his tenure as the chief minister he had urged the then Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to conduct a probe by a special investigation team.

‘’I had demanded not once but twice but the Central Government did not respond to the demand. The investigation into both cases are moving very slowly and with the current probe it is certain that the real culprits will not be booked,’’ he said.

Earlier, after the visits of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and P K Sreemathi to the hospital in which Shari, the victim of the Kilroor sex scandal, was admitted, Achuthanandan had passed a remark that the condition of the victim had deteriorated after the visit of a VIP.  VS’s VIP remark had snowballed into a major controversy in the state. The CBI is currently carrying out the investigation.
