The eighth party congress of the CMP, which concluded here on Tuesday, unanimously re-elected M V Raghavan as the general secretary of the party.  The conference elected Patyam Rajan, C P John, M K Kannan and K R Aravindakshan as secretaries.

A nine-member polit buro, consisting of M H Sharier, C A Ajeer, G Sugunan and T C H Vijayan apart from general secretary and four secretaries, was also selected at  the conference.

Moreover, a 151-member central council of special invitees, was also selected.

The CMP leaders, including Patyam Rajan, C P John and K R Aravindakshan, who met reporters after the concluding session, blatantly criticised the policies of the UPA Government. “The government should not impose more burden on thecommon man  in the name of reforms. The government can, instead, tackle the situation without increasing the petroleum prices if it initiates stringent steps towards unearthing black money that was being invested in various countries,” Patyam said.
