The Suryanelli rape victim and her parents on Friday asserted that senior Congress leader and Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha P J Kurien had raped her.
According to the victim’s mother, they have sought legal opinion from the advocate since they believe that they did not get justice.
“We will not be able to make false statements against such a prominent personality. We have been saying the facts right from the beginning of the case that Kurien is also involved in the rape case. However, when the investigating officers refused to indict him citing lack of evidence, we approached the court,” she said.
When asked about the delay in filing a review petition, the mother said that both she and her husband (victim’s father) had to undergo serious health issues during these time and did not focus well on the issues related to the case.
She added that though they did not intend to disclose the details about the letter on security reasons, the media brought out it in public.
“The letter was a confidential matter as our daughter has to go for work. We were forced to admit it when the letter was published by television channels,” she said.
