Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has mourned the death of former Transport Minister Lonappan Nambadan. Nambadan was an exceptional personality as a politician and a parliamentarian.  A strong believer in God, Nambadan stood firm on the Left front.

His fine sense of humour made him a favourite with the people, the media and readers, Achuthanandan said.Finance Minister K M Mani and Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty have also mourned Nambadan’s death.

An individual who always stood by the common man, Lonappan Nambadan was a model for clean politics, RYF state committee said, condoling his death. His death is an irreparable loss to the Left organisations in the state, RYF national general secretary K Sunnykutty, state president Poovachal Nazar and state secretary C P Sudeesh Kumar said.

In Lonappan Nambadan’s death, the state has lost a symbol of sincerity and loyalty, Janata Dal (Secular) national general secretary A Neelalohithadas said. NCP state president said that the Left-secular-democratic forces has lost a strong presence with the death of Nambadan.
