Lulu group did not encroach land at Edappally

Express News Service

The Lulu group has not encroached on any land to construct the mall at Edappally, according to the interim report submitted by the Kanayannur Taluk Officer who conducted the resurvey of the area in dispute.

“Based on the findings till June 4, we have prepared an interim report which would be handed over to the district collector.  The survey results so far show that there is no encroachment. We  have surveyed the areas that come under the jurisdiction of the Kochi Corporation and the Kalamassery Municipality,” said Kanayannoor Additional Tahsildar   Krishnakumari, who is the Tahsildar in-charge. “However,  we can arrive at a final conclusion only after the survey is completed’’  she said.

The order for a resurvey was issued after it came to light that the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), around a year ago, had  filed a complaint alleging encroachment of its land by Lulu. The KMRL alleged that the authorities concerned then did not show any interest on the issue.
