The Hurt and Homicide Wing of Crime Branch on Friday arrested a person for allegedly murdering a woman and stealing her gold chain at Rajakulam, Koduvayur, in Palakkad in June 2009. The arrested person was Suresh, 30, of Kurudankulambu, Ethanoor, Koduvayur.

According to K G Simon, Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch, Suresh had murdered Parvathy, 45, who was living with her family in a rented house at Rajakulam.   Parvathy had borrowed Rs 50,000 from Suresh for her daughter’s marriage, which he gave by pledging the title deed of his house.

“On June 4, 2009, Suresh went to Parvathy’s house seeking the money. His sister’s marriage had been fixed on June 7 and he wanted the money to meet the expenses. However, she refused to give the money and threatened to call her neighbours. The next morning, Suresh followed her from temple and after she entered her house strangulated her. He escaped from the back door,” Simon said.
