Two shops were gutted when fire broke out in a shopping complex in the afternoon at Perumbavoor on Monday.
This was the third fire incident at A M Road here within a month.
Babu’s Mobile Communications and Service Centre on the ground floor and Babu’s Watch Repairing Centre on the ground floor were destroyed in the fire.
The damages had not been calculated, police said.
According to police, a short circuit on the top floor led to the fire.
Wooden materials were stocked in the top floor shop and that caused the fire to spread fastly, said the police. The building was also old and had the conventional-tiled roof erected on wooden frames, the police said.
The local fire brigade was able to control it as they reached immediately.
According to shopowners, repeated fire incidents in the shops here have raised suspicions about its cause and whether these were acts of sabotage.
