Saritha Nair had duped several planters in Idukki district, by offering windmill power plants at cheap rates. She introduced herself as Lakshmi Nair, along with husband Biju Radhakrishnan, and swindled money in the name of an illegal company called Team Solar Renewable Energy Solutions.

The duo defrauded N Murugesan, a cardamom farmer and resident of Cumbum, Tamil Nadu, off about `10 lakh by offering two wind mills. Murugesan told Express that he had come to know about the company through a newspaper ad last year. Meanwhile, there are several cheating cases against Saritha S Nair, the accused in the solar panel cheating case. There are two cases against her in the Medical College police station, one in Poonthura police station and  one in the Museum police station.
