Many fell prey to her charms in Idukki

It has come to light that the con woman Saritha Nair had duped several people in Idukki district, by offering windmill power plants at cheap rates. N Murugesan, a cardamom farmer and resident of Cumbum, told ‘Express’ that the agreement was that he would pay the full amount in advance, part of which would be returned when the government reimbursed the subsidy amount. He handed over about `13 lakh via two cheques.

In return the company provided a post-dated cheque for Rs 10.3 lakh. Although the company supplied equipment, the plants could not be set up successfully, as the equipment was not of good quality, said Murugesan. When the postdated cheques bounced, Murugesan filed a case with the Judicial First Class Magistrate, Nedumgandom, three months ago. Murugeasan says that the demeanour of ‘Lakshmi’ was such that, no one could doubt foul play, and as a result he proceeded to introduce several other members of the Vandanmedu Cardamom Growers Association to duo.
