The joint action committee meeting of the anti-Aranmula airport, presided over by poet Sugathakumari, has decided to strengthen the agitation against the airport project and organise several agitations in the coming days.
The meeting had evaluated the mass convention organised in Pathanamthitta on April 27. As part of the World Biodiversity Day, a public meeting will be held in Kozhencherry on May 23. An environment protection meet will be held in all the Assembly constituencies in Pathanamthitta district on May 5, observed as the World Environment Day.
It was also decided to include people from all walks of life, including political, social and environmental organisations. The meeting also decided to organise meetings in all the panchayats in Pathanamthitta district as part of strengthening the agitation against the airport on July 6. The meeting lauded the recommendations of the Parliamentary panel to abandon the project.
