All democratic-minded people should support the Congress in order to prevent the communal BJP from coming to power at the Centre, said KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala MLA.
He was speaking at a reception to his Kerala Yathra at Kalamasserry on Saturday. The reception, organised by the Kalamasserry Congress Block committee, witnessed a huge gathering of people.
“The BJP Government actively supported and helped the criminals who unleashed violence against Muslims in 2002 in Gujarat. The shameful genocide in Gujarat is a permanent blot on the secular history of India. If the BJP comes to power, there will be many Gujarats in the country,” he said.
Chennithala added that certain forces were trying to communalise social life in the state. He pointed out that the UDF was also campaigning against the political violence unleashed by the CPM. The Kalamasserry block committee of the Congress had organised a colourful reception to the Kerala Yatra. The activists also presented currency notes’ garland to the Congress leader.
